TOPIC: Rotary's Legacy: the Challenges of Climate Change and a Call to Action
Alan was born and was raised in Owatonna, MN. He graduated from Oregon State University with a BS degree in Wildlife Science and Management.
Alan co-owned a small business in St. Cloud, MN, for 5 years and served in the St. Cloud Army National Guard for 6 years. In 1978, he joined the Scouting profession, in St. Cloud. Alan retired in 2012, after 34 years of executive service with the Boy Scouts of America.
Alan has been a Rotarian for many years and is a member of the Northfield, MN, club of 148 members. He is a Paul Harris Fellow, and a member of Rotary International’s Environmental Sustainability Action Group (ESRAG).
In 2017, Alan and several friends started a Rotary Climate Action Team (RCAT) in his club. Over the last several years, he has presented on climate change to over 180 church, school, business, fraternal and senior organizations, including 78 Rotary clubs.

All fines collected will be used to support local organizations such as 360 Communities, The Open Door, MOMS, etc.
For the meeting of May 1, 2024 there are 11 cards and 3 Jokers. The pot stands at $1,067.00. Ticket donations are: $1 for 1 ticket; $2 for 3 tickets; $3 for 5 tickets; $5 for 10 tickets; and $10 for 25 tickets. Three lucky winners are chosen each week; the first two tickets drawn win $5, the third winner draws a card from the deck in hopes of pulling an Ace to win a share of the pot. If a joker is pulled, it will cost the winner a $2 contribution to the pot. If the Ace of Spades is pulled, the pot is awarded equally to all who have pulled an Ace from the current deck, and the drawing starts over again. Congratulations to Jodi Ellingson for drawing the A of Clubs, and Charlie Drew for drawing the A of Diamonds. They are guaranteed 1/4 of the pot.
